Justpass arose from a real problem I noticed at one of the big parties that take place every summer in Punta del Este. While working as a bartender, I saw how people spent a lot of time in long lines to buy a drink. Many of those people chose to leave the line and end up not buying anything. That's when I realized there was a big problem, both for the partygoers and the event organizers. Together with a friend, we decided to take action and develop a system to streamline this process so that people could enjoy the parties more without having to waste time in lines.

What is JustPass?

Typically, when people want to buy a drink at an event, they approach the bar, order what they want, and pay for it. With JustPass, people can pre-purchase their products, whether from home, on their way to the event, or at the event itself, using only their phone. Then, they simply approach the bar, present the QR code, and pick up their order. This way, people save time by avoiding double lines when purchasing, allowing them to buy from wherever they want.

From ideation to programming, this project took approximately one year. My work focused mainly on front-end development and the overall visual aspect of the brand, including the logo, social media flyers, documentation, etc. This was my first major project once I became a “Full-stack Developer,” so the technologies I used were HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, without any framework. For the backend, Python and Django were used. It also has integration with a payment gateway “Plexo” to make purchases within the app.

Being our first major project with the idea of commercialization and more, my partner and I had no idea about many factors. So, when we finished creating the product, we couldn't find our first client for many months when it came to validating the solution in the market. For this reason, Justpass is not online currently; however, the platform remains in our plans to eventually relaunch it, improving various aspects, both technical and commercial.
